I love the confidence-building atmosphere. It makes learning possible and more enjoyable! He said to me at the beginning of the school year, “I’m going to this school so I can be responsible and learn for myself.” So true! He is taking responsibility for himself and his own learning here! Before CHOICE, we struggled getting to school, emotionally and physically. Several months in, he still wakes up early so he’s not late for another fantastic day!

I’ve watched my daughter’s ownership of her education blossom as she’s attended CHOICE. She’s absorbing the idea that she is the best person to take charge of her education, and that she will reap what she sows in her life. The 3.5-day/week model provides rigor without monopolizing family time. The guides are dedicated, the life-learning is real, and the tribe of heroes are kind, curious, and proud of the community they are building. We love CHOICE!

I have changed my way of thinking. Instead of thinking “I failed, now I won’t do it”, I think I’ll just try again and try harder. One thing I learned about myself is that I never give up. When I fail, I try again. One thing that brought me joy this session is having to challenge myself. It’s fun!

We have seen wonderful changes in our 1st grader these past few months! Where she would usually get frustrated and quit if something got difficult, she will now stop, assess, ask questions to figure things out. Most days when she comes home she prefers to continue learning and asking questions rather than watch T.V. When we decided to start this Hero’s Journey we knew we’d be on the right track if our child developed a love for learning and that exact thing has happened – but in much less time than expected!

CHOICE has been such a blessing for our kids. It is so comforting knowing our kids are in a positive environment that is helping them grow! Not only are they learning scholastic skills, they are also learning how to become wonderful, strong individuals and how to handle everyday life. It has been so much fun watching our kids grow and come home so happy each day.

I highly recommend CHOICE. As I did my research about Acton Academies, I really liked their philosophy. I love that my child isn’t just learning for a test, but learning things like: initiative, responsibility, grit, gratitude, critical thinking, and collaboration. I love so much about CHOICE, but my favorite thing is they truly see each child as a hero. Whether my child has had a productive day or not, I know she is loved at CHOICE.

I had been contemplating different options for my children’s education for about a year before finding CHOICE, and really CHOICE found me! I had just started reading the book “Courage to Grow” when I saw an advertisement for CHOICE. I was blown away! An Acton Academy in my area! Was this real? I quickly set up an interview and knew within minutes that this is what I had been praying for. My children were hesitant to change schools, even though my oldest was really struggling in her current school, because change is hard! I knew this would be a leap of faith for all of us, but felt like we needed to do the harder right thing now, instead of the easier wrong!

After only a couple of weeks my children would come home thanking me for finding CHOICE and switching schools. I kept waiting for a huge problem, or the bottom to fall out, or the newness to wear off, but my children still to this day thank God in their prayers for this school. I am so thankful for CHOICE! There are no better guides I would trust my children than Paul and JeVonne. My children have become self-motivated, they problem solve and they better understand time management. I couldn’t recommend this school more. It is worth the investment. What greater investment do we have for our future than our children?
